Only Simchas
Only Simchas a.k.a gladness / joy / celebrations is the best ‘jew saying’ for the weekend that has – in the blink of an eye – passed.
It all started on Thursday night with the announcement of my cousin Ryan’s engagement to Nats and a lechaim drinks 15 mins later. After a quick dash out of pjs, I was continuing my champagne testing with more celebratory champers at their apartment up the road from me. My aunt and uncle had just arrived from Durban so basically all the family and friends were there. Friday = shabbas dinner + 3 Silverstones kitted by mistake in Country Road without realising it = picture below.
Saturday was made of greatness with a lakka Sea Rescue training in the morning and a brisk run out to sea in some fun sea conditions. WPCC vs. Maties hockey match to end the season making me realise I don’t really miss it as much as I thought. It’s an great competitive sport when playing at a high-level but when life starts happening and other exciting things come along, you realise some parts of your life do come to an end.
First time eating at Manna Epicure for Root’s belated birthday celebration from Friday. Had an yummy scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, avo on coconut bread. There were some delicious cakes on display that I must definitely try on the next visit. High recommend a brunch there. Drinks at Bascule Whiskey Bar was pretty.
Bought a beeeeeeg television too
Weekend famdamily celebrations ended with a final dinner at Bayside Cafe in Camps Bay. Had Beef Ribs for the first time in about 15 years. Nom. Sleep
